ISLAMABAD: The first-ever literature festi
val was held on Tuesday at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), which highlighted the significant role of literature in development of a civilized and prosperous society.
The event was unique, since it was the fi
rst time that an ‘Adabee Mela’ was arranged at the University’s level, largely attend
ed by students, literary and social fi
gures, besides renowned journalists, including Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists President Afzal Butt, Hamid Mir, Rauf Klasra, Saud Sehr and Jabbar Mirza.
It was
part of a series of socio-literary and academic activities, being arrang
ed by the University since Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui took over as its vice chancellor.
